This is to inform that in view of India’s growing engagement with the Pacific Island Countries (PIC), an Indian Naval vessel will be visiting Port Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), from 12-15 August 2016 on a friendly goodwill visit.  This would be the first visit for an Indian Naval ship to RMI in line with India’s active diplomacy in the PIC region.  The Naval vessel is INS Satpura, a P-17 class multi-role stealth frigate, possessing advanced state-of-the-art weaponry.

The ship is visiting RMI enroute to India after participation in the Exercise RIMPAC-16, the largest multilateral naval exercise in the world, conducted biennially by the US Navy off the Hawaiian Coast.

Embassy of India, Tokyo, who would be holding an official function in Port Majuro on this occasion, would be happy to invite media personnel of Papua New Guinea, who may be present or visiting RMI, during this period, to grace the occasion.
